The Ocean Signal technology and the devices they sell are truly lifesavers. But the company needs to seriously rethink and restructure their customer support, especially for the marine industry outside the UK. Ocean Signal products sold by appointed agents in foreign countries are not being supported properly after sales - especially with critical end-of-life battery changes. The battery expired on a PLB1 sold to us to support our offshore helicopter operation in the Malacca Straits by a Malaysia sales agent and it couldn't be properly supported in S.E.Asia, so we shipped it to the UK. It seems that everything that could go wrong in Ocean Signal UK with this simple battery change process, has indeed gone wrong. Some two months later my company still has not received the item back safely despite Ocean Signal being fully aware of how important their PLB1 is to our professional offshore operation. Great international, life saving product. But maritime customer support needs a serious revamp.

My view of Ocean Signal is of a former employee. Unfortunately due to my car breaking down and becoming a right off after being there around 5 weeks I couldn't get there to work anymore. The factory itself is very bright and airy. Loads of natrual light from large windows. It's nice and warm and very tidy inside. The employee's and management are all very pleasant and helpful. It is one of the best places I've worked. The products are very well put together with extreme care and well tested before despatch. These products are a must have if you own a boat or regularly in remote places as they use GPS to send a distress signal manually or automatically if you are in a life death situation.

I've contacted the company twice. Once about their MOB device, once about their EPIRB. Both times they were incredibly helpful and speedy in response. Guess I'll get their PLB... :)
