Old Forge York

We have just returned from a long weekend staying at Next Door, visiting friends and family. Next Door was an absolute delight from the decor and comfort, to the hospitality and hosts attendance. Karen made us feel that any enquiry from the booking to quick questions during our stay were welcome. The accommodation was exemplary. Spotlessly clean, beds comfortable and cosy, generous seating in the sitting area, around the dining table and in the courtyard garden. The kitchen and bathrooms lacked for nothing. The decor is nothing short of 5 star and I want Karen to decorate my house! Needless to say we will be returning.

Having recently stayed in The Garden Shed at the Old Forge York with my partner I am delighted to say it was a wonderful experience. We arrived to the warm welcome of the owner of the property; Karen, and her two playful dogs Boris and Bobby. The Old Forge lies in a beautiful and picturesque village on the outskirts of York, and is accessible from the city centre via bus, taxis and Uber for those like us that do not drive. We were greeted with complementary bread, butter, pastries, apple juice, tea, popcorn and marshmallows. Karen showed us how to use the fire pit outside and even for beginners like ourselves her guidance was enough to enjoy the delights of spending a night under the stars with an open fire, roasting the marshmallows and popping the popcorn. The shed itself is anything but; equipped with everything you could want for a cosy stay. There was ample room, fantastic facilities and it was sparkling clean (a rare luxury in rural settings). With the room came access to Karens superb land, adorned with swinging benches, beautiful flowerbeds and a delightful pond. Karen also offers prepared meals for those who stay at a very reasonable 15pp and these were fantastic for a cosy night in. I look forward to staying here again and for price that is offered, this stay represents not only a great opportunity, but also a fantastic bargain. 5*/5 every time

We had such a wonderful family stay at The Old Forge, Karen was a superb host- nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation is beautifully decorated and very well equipped, feels 5* from the moment you walk and smells divine! Lots of lovely things to see and do for everyone on your doorstep! We will be back - thank you Karen!

Wonderful hosting and service throughout with thoughtful touches and no effort spared to make us feel welcome and give us the best stay possible. Completely modernised property with luxurious proportions and sizing. The property was in a fantastic location for a relaxing stay. Couldnt recommend more highly.
