        The historic grade II* listed Church of St John the Evangelist at Whitwell-on-the-Hill is by renowned architect GE (George Edmund) Street (1824-81). Built 1858-60 in 'High Victorian Gothic style', with campanile-like steeple, using Whitby stone - & the interior is impressive too. There's easy parking on the road immediately outside & the church is usually open during daylight hours.
