Stopped here for a Sunday roast dinner with the family, there was 5 of us in total 1 of which was an OAP. We looked at the ship in menu before we arrived because the elderly gentleman prefers a smaller childs portion which the ship in offers. However when asking if we could have 4 roast beef meals and a childs roast beef, they refused as he wasnt a child. The food come out and it was basically rare steak that you dont get a steak knife with making it impossible to cut. We left most of the beef because it wasnt edible with what was provided. We did hear a couple ask for the beef to be cooked more well done and they also refused that. Its 18 each for the roast here and they seem to be attempting to get into a market they shouldnt be in, most of it was sent back. I wouldnt recommend this pub for a Sunday roast.

We decided to stop off here for a light lunch and a drink. There was a very polite young man serving, I asked him about food and he said he would find out!! Bit strange as it clearly states on the sign outside open for food and drink I must point out we were sitting outside with another table near us eating a bowl of chips. The young man served me my drinks and I paid. He then asked the lady behind the bar about food, I was standing at the bar right in front of them both at this time. She replied to him we are full she didnt even give me the courtesy of turning round to see or speak with me, people were starting to sit at the tables outside. Wouldnt you think food would be offered to people sitting outside!! We decided to leave our unfinished drinks and go next door to eat at the Italian restaurant who made us really welcome. This Ship Inn will not be getting our business again, so to sum it up; The young man serving was excellent this was the only reason I gave a star but I consider the lady who was asked if I could have food to be rude for not even looking or talking to me as a customer. Stating they are full when we are sitting outside amongst empty tables, and to be absolutely honest the Diet Coke wasnt up to much as the Italian restaurant was real bottled coke and not pumped so far better. We didnt let it spoil our day and we had a fantastic lunch opposite eating Italian.
