    Beautiful!

A beautiful church offering the best view of Rye from the top of it's tower. Rye is the basis for Tilling, in the Mapp and Lucia books by E.F. Benson, who lived in Rye at Lamb House. Lamb House was the inspiration for Mallard's , Mapp's home and eventually Lucia's. The only downside to the beauty of Rye is their unwelcoming attitude to anyone with a dog. Strange when the UK is supposed to be a nation of dog lovers. There has been a surge in the number of dog owners since the Covid Pandemic and many towns across the UK have acknowledged this and made being dog friendly part of their community. See Bury St Edmunds, Brighton & Hove and St Neotts to name but a few. Rye could learn from their example

This venerable church dating from 1180 is at the heart of the old town of Rye, with incredible views from Bell Tower. It's interior and exterior ooze history and religious faith, and it's position on the hill at the top of the town afford the perfect view of the rooftops and layout of this postcard medieval town in East Sussex.
