Underwhelming afternoon tea. I was part of a group booking for afternoon tea, with varying dietary requirements. Those requirements were catered for, but with minimal effort or zest. The food was pleasant enough - in the way 4 finger sandwiches, 2 small scones and 3 bitesize cakes are. The dairy free and vegan contingent did not get anything to replace the cream for their scones, even though alternatives are widely available. They also got 2 coconut macaroons and a biscuit rather than the small cakes and pastries the rest of the party had, which left their selection bland and without character. When asked, the staff could not actually identify what the cakes were, even after consulting the kitchen. I can only assume, from the lack of knowledge and the toughness of the choux pastry that they were straight from the freezer. None of the desserts listed on the website appeared on our plates, and no menu was made available at any point. It was quiet, but when we wanted to ask for more drinks a member of the party had to go searching for staff. When the staff were avilable they were very helpful. It wasn't an unpleasant experience, but for the price I would have expected something a little... more. I can easily walk other places and get the same food and service for half the price.

We haven't stayed yet, but I just want to say thank you to Abbie on reception who has been so helpful. We were due to stay at the hotel for 1 night this Thursday but unfortunately could not make it. Abbie was really helpful and kindly moved our booking at such short notice to a better suited date for us. Nothing seemed too much for her and her excellent customer service has made us look forward to our stay even more. Thanks again Abbie!
