I ordered an orange alstromeria in May 2022 and followed up with an email query about non delivery. Reply stated poor rooting. Further emails I sent received no reply so I asked for reimbursement and still no response. At least have the decency to reply if you're going to take my money. As a 'customer' I feel robbed and scammed.

1st time ordering and I have to say the last! I ordered cuttings/ plants. I ordered 12.12.2021 as my husband has not long retired and was spending more time in the garden, hence something a bit different for him. I was told they would be sent from mid March however...after several emails with Richard and different dates and even more phone calls it would seem I had been forgotten (hard to believe as I had contacted them often). I contacted them again by phone and the lady said she would take a look to see what she could find for me...(getting late in the year now). To cut an even longer saga short I ended up with 4 miserable looking Dahlia tubers and not a cutting in sight. I have managed to get three of the 4 going. I decided to email them again to let them know how disappointed I was and got no reply so, I decided to write this review which I hoped I wouldn't have needed to. Should have replied, that would have been the decent thing to do, simple little sorry and I would have placed another order with you.

So disappointed. No communication about delayed order or problems until weeks after I expected the order. When it did turn up the packaging was dreadfully inadequate so plants were in very poor condition, half my order was missing and plants were substituted for tubers which will be way behind. Photo attached should have been 13 plants.

I purchased allium bulbs in September last year for 49.20. I purchased 60 allium white cloud which grew but did not produce flowers. I also purchased 30 atropurpureum of which only 11 grew and flowered. I purchased 5 red mohicans of which all flowered. The white alliums were for 2 relatively new beds bordered on all sides by new 2 year old buxus shrubs. I had a good show of 2 types of purple alliums early in May which were followed by allium drumsticks and were then supposed to be followed by the white cloud. Now I have 2 sad empty beds because the white alliums did not flower. When I contacted HW Hyde (with photos) I received a very short reply: Hi, from the pictures, it is very dry. We have seen alliums seriously suffering in the extreme weather this year. Our control samples flowered well, Kind regards, Sarah When I replied to let her know the beds were not dry they are watered well, have a bark mulch and pointed out the new fresh green growth on all the buxus shrubs and assured her we have plentiful supply of underground stored water they did not respond. I then sent a third email and they have not responded. I did some research and it seems the cause of alliums not flowering is because the bulb is not mature enough to flower. This is relevant because I received the bulbs in a small brown paper bag and at the time I could not believe the bag contained 60 bulbs so I counted them. Apart from drumsticks they were the smallest allium bulbs I have ever planted. I dont have any for comparison but they took up less than half the space of the brown paper bag, they were very small so I can only assume Hyde supplied me with immature bulbs and this was the reason for them failing to flower. It is particularly annoying to have spent that amount of money with nothing to show in 2 beds, and very little in the other. I purchased from Hyde because they were one of very few companies selling the white cloud. If I had researched them and read their reviews I would not have purchased from them. It is more annoying because this year I can see that Hyde are very expensive compared to other places not just for the white cloud but for all the bulbs I bought. It has been upsetting having 2 mostly bare beds in the middle of summer when I am in the garden every day. If the photo has uploaded I mostly have what is shown on the left and about 7 on the right. UPDATE AFTER YOUR RESPONSE As I said to you in an email our garden has been created from scratch and new areas are being created every year. We have spent 14000 on landscaping, have invested in underground storage to capture rainwater from the roof, and spent 1000's on plants. We would be very stupid not to water our garden and it has been watered well. The beds in question have healthy new growth on the young buxus, other types of alliums grew and flowered in those beds and the tiny new Japanese anemone plants planted last autumn in those beds are coming on very well and have started to flower. It's only your alliums which have not grown. If your trial plants have grown 100% maybe you accidently sent out immature bulbs.

In previous years I have ordered from Hyde and son and had no problems. Last November I purchased some dahlia cuttings to be despatched to me in April of this year. Full payment of 119 was taken immediately. I did not receive the cuttings in April, so in early May I phoned and was told there was a delay as the cuttings had not taken well. We agreed a delivery date mid May. No cuttings arrived. I waited until the end of May having received no communication from Hyde and Sons. I then sent an e-mail cancelling my order as it was nearly 2 months overdue and requested a re-fund. No reply to my e-mail and no refund. I contacted Paypal complaints department and was told they could not refund me as I had gone over the time limit for them to pursue the claim. Lesson 1: I would never use Hyde and son again. Lesson 2: Do not pay via Paypal if there is a significant gap between payment and due receipt of order. Hyde and son still have my 119.00 and have never communicated with me.
