Overcharged by abrasive manager. I had a terrible experience. I was charged 200 more than I was quoted (more than double). The mechanic who was taking payment was polite and understanding when I expressed shock at the price. He got the manager to speak to me. I asked if the job had been more complicated than planned and he said there had been a small complication costing a little extra but that the basic fee was almost 200 higher than I had been advised (by one of his employees). He was unpleasant and aggressive in his manner (unlike the very nice men working for him). I had two young children with me and felt bullied into paying in order to get my car and leave. I felt very uncomfortable with the way he was speaking to me and did not want my children to hear any more. I drove straight to Pembury Auto Centre (who had quoted the same original amount to fix the car but who we sadly didnt choose to do the job) who expressed disbelief at what I had been charged. The manager there said it was more than double what would have been a reasonable fee for the job (which his mechanic had also examined the car and quoted for). I then phoned the HIQ manager and he was deeply unpleasant and unprofessional, calling me a liar and claiming he had agreed the high price with my husband, which he absolutely had not. Why on earth would we have selected HIQ if they were quoting 200 more that Pembury Auto Centre? Avoid this garage at all costs. I advised the manager I will be reporting to trading standards and trying to retrieve my money through the small claims court. He was rude and sarcastic upon hearing this. A truly awful experience that has left me feeling shaken.

Good garage. They were recommended to me and I wasn't disappointed. The cambelt was about to snap on my van. HiQ fitted me in at short notice and had my van back on the road very quickly. Thanks
