We were very disappointed not to be able to stay at the Oast House last weekend when we'd travelled to Tunbridge Wells for a wedding. We loved the look of the BnB, her pets that greeted us in the driveway, and on first impressions Olga was a friendly host. However, we complained to her at check in about the smell and hygiene of the room - there was a stench of cat wee so strong you could taste it. Opening the windows didn't make any difference - it must have penetrated deep inside the floor, walls and upholstery... We did not feel her response (offering us air freshener) was sufficient, especially after she suggested that one of her cats might have wee'd on the linen while she was ironing! We did think perhaps she'd had a busy day, and would think better of her response while we were out at dinner and decide to change the linen and clean the room. When we returned to the room to find no improvement we were disappointed. We also inspected further and found the linen on our bed was dirty (looked like a cat wee stain). This left us in a position where we had no real choice but to drive back home at considerable inconvenience and cost. We were both polite and honest with Olga about our disappointment when we left the BnB. We raised the issue with booking.com and were surprised to hear that Olga was not prepared to provide any refund at all, despite the fact we never stayed in the room. Booking.com advised that we need to resolve this matter with her following multiple rejections of our request via their customer service team... Given Olga was pleasant to us on the day we wanted to resolve this matter behind closed doors, however, Olga accused us of being 'libellous' for having a sense of smell, and has refused to give us any money back which has forced us to write a negative review...
