James Hirons

Our father spent the last 6 years of his life at James Hirons and right up to the day he died, peacefully and in his own room there, we felt he couldnt have been in a better place. The spacious environment, including the sunny conservatory and the lovely gardens to walk around and sit in were a real solace for Dad. The care staff and whole team provided a high quality of care, with the specialist skills but also a sense of humour much needed in this challenging position. Equally, their support and understanding of the family was constant and very much appreciated.

The James Hirons residential home is excellent. The staff are the most caring I have ever encountered; all have worked there for some time, which is indicative of a good place to be. Their residents are 'cared for' in every sense of the word. Activities and trips are available for all - I've wandered in on a couple of occasions to see a card school, led by an intrepid 95 year old, in action! The gardens are just beautiful, with benches, pergolas, tables and chairs, as resting places along the way. There are two sunny conservatories and a magnificent drawing room. My mother spent the last 2 years of her life as a resident of James Hirons; it was a halcyon time for her. Our heartfelt thanks go to all the staff for the care they gave to Mum.

When my mother decided that the time had come to leave her flat she, and the rest of her family, thought James Hirons looked the best option: well staffed, in a lovely house with a fantastic garden and offering a wide range of activities. The reality exceeded even our highest expectations. She was given the most attentive and sensitive care imaginable and this was extended to all family members when, through extreme old age, her final days came.

My Mum spent the last 10 months of her life in James Hirons and, in all honesty, she would have been better off if she had gone there sooner rather than struggling on at home. She was extremely well looked after by the delightful and dedicated staff, some of whom have been there for many years, always a good indication of a pleasant environment. I cannot recommend James Hirons enough. Although I hope it will not be for some time yet, I would be more than happy to spend my later years there.
