The Jephson Hotel

We are just back after a weekend stay at The Jephson, Leamington Spa we were meeting up with friends that we hadnt seen for 5 years so it was important to find a nice comfortable hotel (with bar) the bar had lovely sofas and comfy chairs it was ideal for our well overdue catch up. What made it absolutely perfect was the barman Darren, he was by far the most helpful and happiest member of staff during our stay. He was always cheerful and we had a great laugh with him he is a credit to the hotel. The manager on the other hand, Anthony I think his name is was the total opposite. Our first dealings with him was him telling my friend off for trying to close the window that was right next to our table at breakfast as it was way to cold to have it open. His remark to a respectful lady was unacceptable and we were not impressed. He really could do with learning some people skills he was disrespectful and rude, just not acceptable especially from a manager who should be setting an example. But thankfully we only see him about at breakfast. We also noticed Darren seemed to do everything he was on the bar, waiting in the restaurant and on reception. The other reception staff were also very courteous and helpful. On our departure day a trainee was running the breakfast room, Durham was his name he was amazing, very helpful, friendly, happy and professional so for us the manager was the let down but from the experience we all received from the rest of the staff we would definitely return. Hotel is in a great location not far from the town centre and a good gastro pub called Star & Garter which did great cocktails. We didnt eat here but the food looked amazing and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Just be aware a standard double room is a very small but for just 2 nights it was fine for us it did however have the best shower ever. So a big thank you to the Jephson especially Darren you made our stay extra special and very cheerful, we have traveled far and wide and have all come to the same conclusion .. you serve up the best chunky chips lol !!!
