Schoen Clinic Chelsea

The team at Schoen Chelsea have been supporting our teen since February 2022, and we feel immensely lucky to have found them. We sadly found there was no NHS treatment locally that would be available urgently to us, so we decided to travel away from home for the day programme. The MDT approach and treatment offered has been of great benefit, professional, kind, holistic and hopeful. Dr Hugo (psychiatrist) is very experienced and skilled and our child has been able to develop trust and confidence in the team who have helped us all during very difficult times.

Our daughter joined the Schoen Clinic program in early 2022 and completed two cycles with the clinic. We were immensely relieved to find specialist care for her having found securing a referral or indeed any specialist attention with any speed almost impossible through the NHS system, at a time when we were feeling nearly powerless to intervene in a worsening trajectory. The little things made a huge difference - a rapid response to an enquiry email, a reception team that could provide clear information, the sense of a stable team to enable trusting relationships to be built. During the course of the 4+ months that our daughter attended the clinic, she received structured care which supported not only her but us as well. The experience of the team and Dr Buckley in particular, who was calm and reassuring whilst also firm gave us and our daughter confidence, and working with Tom she made steady progress. We benefitted from connecting with other parents sharing similar experiences, and we learnt skills and techniques which helped us to manage better at home. I have no hesitation in recommending the clinic to families who have a young person afflicted by an eating disorder. The structure of the day, expert clinical oversight and regular counselling sessions provided our daughter with what she needed to set her firmly on the path to recovery. We remain very grateful to all the clinic staff for their professional approach and dedication. I only wish such clinics were available more widely to enable more young people to benefit.

We had appointment for my son to have the first assessment. I sent back the form but there wasnt email follow up after the form had been sent. That was the first red flag. I email them asking for confirmation that they have received the form, no reply. Second red flag. On the morning of the appointment, while we were on our way, I eventually had an email to say the consultant is not going to be in for the appointment! I felt sorry my son who was so disappointed. He had been looking forward to the assessment in order to get further needed helps. The behaviour of the consultant, the customer service and the secretary is utterly unprofessional and uncaring. I would really have doubts if they are able to provide a genuine care to their patiences. A decent person would send an email to let ones know if they are not going to be there for the appointment.

We spent months trying to find the right care for our daughter, but whichever way we turned we were left underwhelmed and disappointed. We were then recommended the Schoen clinic, and I have to say it was the best decision weve ever made. Within a week of our daughters initial consultation she was admitted as a day care patient, and she attended 2 x 8 week cycles of the program, and she now continues as an outpatient. The progress that our daughter has made under the care and supervision of the clinic has been remarkable. Not only did they give our daughter the support she needed, but they also provided amazing support for us as parents. They were always available to answer any questions and reassure us when things were difficult. We also found the parents group of great help, as we could speak to other parents experiencing the same challenges and issues as our daughter. Our daughters journey definitely hasn't been an easy one. Weve had many bumps along the way, but shes made amazing progress and this wouldnt have been possible without the support and care of the clinic. We have many people to thank, but we would like to make a special mention to our daughters primary therapist Tom, who has been an absolute superstar. His dedication and commitment to helping our daughter fight her demons has been incredible. Thanks to everyone at the clinic for all of your love and support. Youve all been amazing! David and Katie

Our daughter attended two cycles of the day care programme at the Schoen Clinic and now continues in outpatients.. Its fair to say that we were in a very difficult position when we were referred to the team at Schoen and we started on the programme within days of our assessment. Our daughter had refused all help previously but was able to engage in this programme. The support provided by the multidisciplinary team admin included - has been incredibly helpful and our daughter has made good progress. The team are very joined up and it has been great to get all of the support under one roof we also appreciate the continuity of having access to the same team as part of outpatient care. There have been many bumps in the road, and I am sure that there will continue to be on the journey to recovery, but we have felt very supported along the way. Our daughters primary therapist in particular, Tom, regularly goes above and beyond to support her and our family for which we are incredibly grateful.
