Beautiful showroom with exceptional pieces. The man tending the store, perhaps the owner, was very helpful and friendly.

Visited Portuondo gallery last week and was very impressed with their beautiful items. The gallery manager was most helpful and sent us the details of the pieces we asked about very quickly. We would not hesitate to recommend this gallery.

They have some incredible pieces. However, the salesperson (who I believe was one of the owners) was unbelievably rude. My partner and I rang the bell to come inside, and a man came to open the door. He had no greeting whatsoever and seemed irritated that we were even there. Neither of us recall saying anything or acting in a way that could have put him off. We tried talking to him about certain pieces, but he gave terse responses and shrugged us off. We felt he wanted us to leave, but we made a point to come see the gallery and had trekked from across the city, so we at least wanted to do a quick lap. We uncomfortably walked around and felt a combination of him wanting to watch over us skeptically but not get too close as to invite any sort of engagement in a discussion. We approached the door, thanked him for his time, and as we walked out, he came to forcefully close the door behind us. We were both stunned and honestly just very confused. To make sure we hadnt intruded, I checked the sign by the doorbell again. We were well within their open hours and there was no indication that it was by appointment only as I know some trade-oriented interior or furniture businesses can be. The website also makes no mention of an appointment requirement or a limitation to trade-only visitors. Maybe wed have a better reception if we came with our designer, but now Im just speculating. Whether he was having a bad day or stressed about a deadline while potential clients took up 6 minutes of his morning, his behavior was beyond inappropriate and unparalleled to any sales encounter Ive ever had. If for some reason you want to feel grossly disrespected, I urge you to drop everything and go see Portuondos collection.
