First of all I'd like to say their full English breakfast was very nice. Rothbury is a beautiful town and this building looked super inside and out but on inspection was a very tired property. We stayed in room 3, the shower door didn't shut, the shower leaked so no flow on shower head, black effervescent mold above the shower. A resident pigeon living on the bathroom window sill outside with no means of getting out there to shoo it, room really dusty. Lots of electric appliances (alarm clock, 2 bedside lamps) with only 2 sockets(not a major issue) so we used one lamp no clock and used the other socket for a phone charger. Ultra soft bed which isn't good for the posture and a duck down quilt at the beginning of August isn't a good combination. Sorry but saying it as I saw it. Not worth the 75 a night for 2 nights. Would not stay here again.

We arrived just after 4pm , no one answered the doorbell so we went to the hotel next door and called the owners who let us in. We were 2 couples and were given The downstairs double rooms. Both rooms had saniflow systems on the toilets which grumbled all night. Our friends had a bath with no plug because the boiler had gone down. When we came back after dinner the waste water had backed up in their sink, toilet and bath, disgusting, they couldnt use their facilities all night. The back of our toilet hadnt seen a cloth for months. No compensation was offered when we checked out a day early . The place is needing some TLC!
