What a gem of a place. Out in the middle of nowhere, other than the occasional passing tractor and the odd sheep wandering nearby this place is perfect for that relaxing break away. The location is fantastic with beautiful views in all directions. The Inn itself has an amazing friendly atmosphere with the staff as helpful as you can get. Both Liz and Steve are the most welcoming and helpful hosts you could wish for, nothing seems to be a bother to them and they're always willing to be flexible and will do almost anything to ensure you enjoy your stay. Lee, excellent knowledge and help in navigating the local area was only too pleased to help us with directions and postcodes for our next days outing. All staff are just as helpful (sorry I forget your names). Dog friendly, Wifi is pretty much the best I've had in any hotel or B&B. Even the locals make you feel extra welcome in the bar! Netflix service included in the bedrooms, not that we use it but WOW what more could anyone ask for? Food, there seems no end in the surprises in this place, Steve being some kind of master chef (I'm not sure of his qualifications) turns out top quality food, the likes you would expect to pay double and triple for in an expansive restaurant. The vast majority if not all or the food served here is sourced in and around the immediate area where it appears the 'locals' (Farmers) work together helping each other out keeping their supplies local, fresh and top quality. You'll understand if you spend a night here listening to the farmers talking over a pint about how to grow and supply the best quality products, this is evident in the flavour or the food here. I will point out the 'condition' of the building which is bound to raise some complaints from the occasional hard to please guest. This is a lovely OLD building, Steve is renovating the place and so far has done a fantastic job, there are places where the building could do with a few touch ups, a bit of DIY needed here and there but these are in places where the renovations haven't been completed and generally out of the view of the public, besides, this only adds to the character of the building and too much modernising would only spoil this place. For what you pay and the service you get, there should be nothing other than 5 stars for this place. Anything less and you just don't appreciate places you have been. We're heading back for our third trip in as many months, and we KNOW we will enjoy ourselves. 2 Full Cumbrian please!
