Kim is incredibly knowledgeable and has a wealth of experience in her field, I was fortunate enough to watch one of her webinars recently, which was fascinating to hear her tales and learn some tips when it comes to gemstone markets in the tourist hotspots! Id highly recommend The Gemstone Detective with her tourism trips and excellent range of books!

I found Kim when I was googling infos about a dealer in Sri Lanka that I really want to buy a gem from. Having no clue about gemstone at all, and buying online sounds like the worst combo, right? But I have no other choices, cause the stone is my dream stone for my engagement ring. I am so very lucky I found Kim! Her book , although thin, it was packed with all the information that I need. Which is, the list of trusted dealers!! And Mr. Althaf, the dealer that I want to buy the gem from, is in that list!! I couldn't be more happier with the gem that I bought! It's not perfect, but it's perfect for me. Fyi, you really need to be wary if the gem is flawless, it could be man made! Cause natural stone usually comes with natural flaw from when it's made. Cmiiw. And without Kim, I would probably be too hesitate to buy, cause too scared of getting scammed! If you are also like me, wanted to buy a gem abroad but not a pro, you definitely need to buy her book! She writes books about buying gemstone in several countries, that could give you insight about the gems and infos about trusted dealers. Thank you so much Kim!!

Bought Kim's Sri Lanka book for a recent trip. The book was very helpful in locating local gem markets, advising on which stones are produced locally including their pricing, and general travel guidance. Also easy to pack and use while travelling. Recommend!
