Great location. Ive always liked this pub, its not fancy but nice. Ive been a few times and always want to support local business but come on, a pint of Peroni and a 175ml glass of wine 20. Almost fainted!! Didnt have the Merlot wine we wanted, fine. Wasnt offered a wine price list (when are you ever in any pub!). Didnt tell us the price until it was poured. Who in their right mind assumes that we would want a glass from a 60 bottle of wine without being asked first? It was just a little drink outside in a pub, not a flipping 5 star restaurant!! You only had 4 wines on offer, why not tell us the price. Especially if weve ordered the most expensive! How do we know if theyre not priced! Just bad form Im afraid and just feels like youre trying to make a quick buck. Two people (who were at the bar when we ordered) came up to our table after and joked about how ridiculously expensive our two drinks were, so we hope it wasnt just us being annoying. Youre just going to lose customers charging this amount. Who pays 13 for a glass of wine at the pub? Maybe on a night out, nice dinner, but in an average pub! Im sorry, but for that reason, Im out! Mini rant.. over.

Really nice place with great staff. No local beers though - apart from Butcombe who own the place I think - which is such a pity as some very good local micro breweries nearby .... closer the Butcombe for sure. Lunchtime food was good but at the upper range of affordability for us 2 pensioners. Dog friendly and genuinely so. Overall a very good experience which we'd like to repeat one day.
