Four nights in what for myself and mrs Stilton have been four of the nicest nights we have had in a long time. Clarence Dene has been going for some years now and Louise and her husband have got it right. There's a delicious selection of breakfasts, all made with local produce, the room was spotless and cleaned to Covid rules. The ensuite loo and shower were in good condition, plenty of hot water on tap and the power shower was simple to operate. For those of you who like to bring their dogs on holiday, have a word with Louise, she's very dog friendly. Clarence Dene is situated on top of the cliff above Robin Hoods Bay, there are two routes down to the old part of the village, the old road is now a cliff top path which leads to the new (ish) sea wall and is a little less steep than the vehicle road, we found most of the shops open and if you really can't face the walk back up then the local taxi will be happy to bring you back up. Clarence Dene has two parking spaces at the back of the house, though they're not suited to big vehicles, those with small to medium family cars will be o.k. don't worry though there is a car park just opposite and you can use a parking pass for the duration of your stay. Be warned though, the local traffic Gestapo do operate! The guest house makes a solid base for exploration of the area, evening meals can be had at the Victoria hotel which is just yards away, book a table in advance if you can, the foods good and with Covid restrictions they get busy, my personal recommendation is the sea bass! Clarence Dene has some late season offers, just give them a call.
