Misleading selling tactics When I was signing up to the gym I asked and was specifically told that after my first direct debit payment goes through I am then free to cancel direct debit with my bank to end my membership with the club, which is nowadays also a standard process in the industry therefore I didn't question was I was being told. Few months down the line I decided to end my gym membership as I was leaving the area and a couple of days after cancelling the direct debit I received a threatening email demanding payment for cancellation of the membership as apparently as per terms and conditions written in the contract, I was required to submit a month notice prior to cancellation of my membership. I explained what I was told during my registration process where I was assured by member of the staff that cancelation of direct debit is sufficient to end my liabilities with the gym which fell on deaf ears. As threatening emails demanding payment continued, I spoke with Citizens Advice Bureau explaining the situation where the membership ending process that was verbally described to me directly conflicts with what was written in the contract and I was advised that as the actual terms of ending the membership were not verbally brought to my attention nor they were made clear in the terms and conditions that I signed therefore I was entitled to cancel my membership without any penalty under those circumstances. In addition to this, I was informed that it is responsibilities of the club to ensure that the cancellation process of the membership cannot be buried in the small print and need to be clear, transparent and fairly balanced under S62 and S68 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which were clearly not met. This again was ignored by the gym's management. Upon speaking further with Citizens Advice Bureau I was advised that I'm entitled to make a complain and seek further assistance through Alternative Dispute Resolution but as I didn't have written evidence of what I was told, my chances of winning the dispute were slim. While I accept it is my responsibility to read the terms and conditions and failure to do so caused these issues, I don't expect to be lied by the members of the staff and threatening manner of payment demands left very sour final experience with the gym.

Really tiny gym, the photos make it appear larger than it is. Barely any cardio machines and a small lifting/functional area, which can get extremely packed during peak hours. Dirty showers, damp infested walls, unpleasant smell and overall bad hygiene and sanitation. The cost of the membership definitely is not reflected in the cleaning standards and lack of upkeep. Hopefully some improvements can be made, as the location is great.
