In its day this would have been quite a showing off, skyscraper of a church. It still has some wall painting, brasses, etc. 16th century pulpit. Preachers on opposite sides of the civil war spoke here. John Pocklington was Chaplain to King Charles I. William Dell, who succeeded him, was a chaplain in the Parliamentary Army. William Dell allowed John Bunyan to preach from the pulpit on Christmas Day 1659, for which William Dell was dismissed as rector as a result. Open to visit. Free parking close by on the road. Close walking distance of the extensive earthwork remains of Yielden Castle.
