Lovely place for a walk. There are several ways to access, but the best one is off of caldecott Road, keep going and you will get to a bend where there is an old concrete road without markings. Drive down there and park at the bottom, and you're literally at the end of the old runway. Another way to access is to park outside the Star and Garter pub, and walk through the gap between the larger houses and follow the fields. The airstrip has lots of off sections to it that hold sheep and currently baby lambs. These are all fenced off though. Dogs are welcome here, and it's a great place to let them off lead, and most are. Watch the runway though as vehicles do drive up and down it, although VERY slowly as there's a low speed limit. There are plenty of access walks off of the strip too ,so you can easily clock up a few miles through the fields if you wish. Do make sure you're on a public access path though as the local farmer isn't the friendliest if you accidentally step on his land.

My dad was stationed here in the 1953. He met my mom here & the rest, as they say, is history. Pretty awesome that I can walk in the same place that they met.

Nice walks through the woods and back down the runway. Plenty of lambs in the surrounding fields at the moment

A great place to walk the dogs they can be off lead through the trees, we enjoyed the countryside views despite the mud from the recent rain!
