Edit in response to review reply: The venue was indeed Ripley Castle, it was a bank holiday Monday and we and many others accessed the gardens for free. They had food and craft stalls around (which was a nice touch) so maybe they were so busy they didn't want to deal with ticket sales? They were allowing purchases of House tour tickets. I agree that it is a personal view of the gardens, it wasn't however a personal view of the rude staff. Out of all the walks we've done this is one of our least favourite sadly. Parking was okay but very busy, we paid 2.50 for 4 hours but the walk only took us approx 1hr. The walk itself was bland, and gardens quite small and bare. We would have scored a three however on arrival there was a sign that said to buy tickets at the takeaway, after queueing for approx 5 minutes we were served by an incredibly rude member of staff who when we asked if we buy a ticket for the gardens rolled her eyes and was obviously annoyed at hearing this question as you didn't buy tickets there. This was our first impression of the site so not a great welcome. We decided to buy a coffee (which took quite a while) and in the time stood waiting we heard many people ask the question about the tickets and all got an eye roll and rude response. Change your signage or do some customer service training, it's completely put us off returning.
