Hello everyone, I thought I would write about our experience with a car garage in Ripley that I would strongly avoid.
My husband left his car to be serviced, MOT and for the lights to be changed to be used in Europe. The garage promised we would have the car back in time to take the ferry to Santander. Five weeks later, the day before we leave on the ferry, we heard that the car was not ready which forced us to cancel our ferry and fly down to Spain at great cost. My husband requested that the garage store the car for him for a fee until we came back six weeks later, which they agreed to. He paid over 4000 for his all services.
When we came back, my husband received a parking ticket for 100 and was told that the car had been parked at Fleet service station for 9 hours, photo evidence provided. We went to the garage to pick up the car without warning and found the car filthy, covered in mud, windows open and the key left on the roof. Inside the car there were used tissue paper, shopping bags and a pair of old trainers.
The garage owner refused to pick up the phone. We discovered that he had been using the car for his personal use and had put on 900 miles on the clock in four weeks. We went to the police who said it would be classed under Taking without consent but was not able to help us due to resources and have asked us to go to trading standards.
