On entering the hotel it looks very rustic and a bit shabby , but get past reception and the place is actually quite nice with a lovely outside seating area and garden. We were there for Afternoon Tea with some friends and whilst the food was not bad at all , the service was appalling. The lady at reception seemed very rude and spoke like she was forced to talk to us when we asked her about parking. When we asked for a seating space they told us where we could sit but dint even offer a high chair till we asked for one (maybe they just did not notice my happy little toddler). When the table was laid out they haves is knives but no forks, I had to go ask for them. Finally, I had mentioned at the start of service that we would like some coffee at the end. Nobody came to ask us if we were ok or wanted anything else or were ready for our coffee. I had to go ask for coffee as well. The number of times I had to get out of my chair and ask for something, I'm wondering if the place would be better off firing their service staff and having a self service system... lol. This review is only for the service, I wouldn't fault the food itself. The sandwiches were simple but nice , the scones looked fresh and delicious and the cakes and deserts were great too.

We stayed for two nights and it was so lovely. Easy to get to, ample parking at the rear. Beautiful quaint old English building at the front and then a nice modern part at the back where we stayed. Doors in the wardrobe and bathroom need some wd40 as they squeak but we would have no other criticism. Staff were so helpful and friendly check in and out was easy. Beds were very comfy and rain shower was lovely.
