We could not have done better at a 5-star hotel. Jane and Matt looked after us royally. We arrived from the Ridgeway on bikes with one flat tyre and mud all over. Matt set us up with a hose and a place to wash our bikes; when we were done, hot tea and showers awaited us. We relaxed with a bottle from their admirable wine cellar before strolling down to the pub for a surprisingly disappointing dinner. Never mind! Janes Full Wiltshire breakfast the next morning was the stuff of legends. Hours later on the Lambourne Downs, admiring the Chiltern escarpment in winter sunshine, we savoured the cheese and beetroot sandwiches in the lunches she had packed for us. A pity we booked only the one night. Next time perhaps well Meadowbank as a base.

A truly wonderful stay - thank you, Jane! We only stayed one night but wish it couldve been longer, its ideally situated for walking on the Ridgeway but also just a lovely location for local exploring. We received such a warm and friendly welcome, enjoying tea and cake in the cottage-style garden, and our room was immaculate. Everything was spotlessly clean and we had a comfy bed, excellent shower (just what you need after hiking in the hot sun!), super tea and coffee facilities and great toiletries too. Jane even booked us a table at a pub nearby for dinner. Breakfast was delicious and made with locally-sourced produce which we really appreciated, plus Jane made us great packed lunches as well. She also made a lot of effort to adhere to Covid-19 guidelines ensuring everybody a safe and comfortable stay. We hope to stay here again.
