Harris-Mayes Country Cars

Took in my 69 Range Rover sport hybrid with an electrical fault after being told from a main dealer that i would need to wait for 2 months. Although the garage could not fix it being a hybrid they very kindly gave me the electrical report from the car with no charge !!! I initially found out about Harris Mayes through a Google search, and I was encouraged by their great reviews. I got a pre purchase inspection done on my L405, and completed any necessary work and a service there. Ive been back a few times since with smaller work that was needed, and will return for any future work. Great team, super friendly, and always willing to accommodate, with honesty. I had just brought my first Discovery and when I changed the roof bars, one of the bolts sheared-off. I needed help but as our local garage said, That needs to be drilled-out mate, without offering to do so for coin I looked up local Land Rover experts and found Harris-Mayes just down the road. I went along to ask about a service as mine hadnt had its belts done or a proper service since 2018 (previous owner slacking) and I was twitchy after bitter experience at Beadles Watford. I arrived at the site on a small industrial area outside Rickmansworth. The garage was surrounded by WIP: Discoverys, Defenders and Police land rovers! Well, if they use them then surely, they must be OK? I walked in and was greeted straight away by Lauren who looked up my Disco on the computer and gave me the grim tidings about lack of service history. She said she would email me a quote on the service & belts. I then asked about my sheared bolt and she called through to the service area and a nice guy called Drew walked out. Lauren kindly asked Drew to have a look at it for me. He sorted it within 5 minutes without a fuss and with the words, I like a challenge!. Legend. Thank you Drew. That decided it. I was bringing my car here. A couple of weeks later I took my car back for the service and was given a courtesy car (are you reading this Beadles of Watford?) and off I went awaiting a phone call with the inevitable extra damage I would need to fork out for. The next day Lauren called and said my main battery was below 70% capacity which was why the Start/Stop wasnt working as expected and a lot of my wheel nuts were swollen (insert pun here). I was expecting the battery but as Ive had previous with dodgy wheel nuts on my old Jag, I gave her the nod on those too. Not too bad then! The next day I got the call and drove round to everything sorted. Both belts, 2-year service, battery & nuts. No, it wasnt cheap, but it was probably half Beadles price, and I got a courtesy car too. As far as Im concerned, Harris Mayes can look after my Discovery until I replace it. They have the people (who love Land Rover products by the way) and the kit and the experience. Five stars from me. Highly recommended. Service: General repairs & maintenance
