Having lived in london for the last 10 years and have NEVER experienced this I was astonished that we were turned away by a scruffy Doorman because I was wearing a cap ( NOT A BASEBALL CAP) but at fashionable hat that was a part of my outfit ) I'm a 49 years old professional who would obviously not be out for any kind of trouble, I turn to my wife and said, thats clearly why the place is empty at which point the doorman laughed, if I was part of the management team I would be losing my mind over this decision during an economic crisis as it was a saturday night and there were Ten customers in this establishment at the most. If you can trust this guy to have any impact on your turnover good luck to you but trust me you will ultimately fail.
