I have been gardening for around 60 years and I always choose Levington compost because it produces the best results and I know I can rely on it. However, I recently bought 3 bags of multipurpose compost from Perrywood Garden Centre in Tiptree and all three bags have had a quantity of shingle in them and one even had a piece of glass. Some of the shingle was quite large and not conducive to sowing seeds. When I buy compost I expect 50L and 100% compost not 49L of compost and 1L of shingle. Is this another cost cutting exercise? What's going on?
