Booked a room for my grandparents, requested a ground floor room if possible due to my grandad having a disability and quite unsteady on his feet. They informed us only rooms available on first and second floor - no problem as was just a preference for ease for them both. 3 days before my grandparents are due to arrive, we receive a message from the hotel stating they recommend we go elsewhere to avoid inconvenience as my grandfather is disabled and we would be able to find cheaper places in Redditch almost as if they were persuading us to go elsewhere. Obviously panicking due to being so close to the arrival date, my mum called the hotel to discuss this and explain it was fine he was just unsteady and it was simply a preference for ease for her to be told they do not want the trouble. We have now had to book another hotel room at extra expense as we are concerned my grandparents will be treated differently due to this and made to feel unwelcome. I wrote to them to express my concerns regarding the way our situation had been handled and for this to be passed on to management to have a shocking reply sweeping this under the carpet. It is disgusting how this has been handled and am shocked at the responses I have received. Totally shocking in this day and age for people to act this way. Definitely do not recommend anybody staying here - disappointed attitude management and staff. I suggest you read up on the Disability Discrimination Act as this could cause you problems in the future.
