Great pop up style board game cafe in a large hall with a dedicated kitchen selling a good range of hot food and some amazing milkshakes and cheese cake! Plenty of games to play and the people there are very friendly and sociable, so you can go empty handed and start playing a game you've never even heard of while making new friends. We've played some dice based RPG, a fancy coop strategy game called nemesis, a castle based snakes and ladders seen others play a Sherlock game, UNO, exploding kittens, there's all sorts from the common favourites to the obscure intricate games. Warhammer tables for those who are into it as well. The people there are happy to suggest games and even reserve them if you know you want it a certain session. It's kid friendly, but people of all ages and walks of life and open to anyone. Worth noting it's very accessible. Although it's up stairs there is a dedicated lift and the tables are spread out enough for wheelchair users to easily get around and join in. The entry fees are well priced especially if you go as a family or get a membership. I think if you go two or three times in a year with the membership it saves you money. The cafe is also exceptionally well priced. Currently a meal deal of a burger, fries and drink for 3, but other options like veggie burgers, jacket potatoes, pizza and specials. There's also fancy milkshakes (the kind with delicious crunchie bits and whipped cream) and desserts as well as tea, coffee, pop. They take card payments and there's a pay it forward option as well so no one needs to be hungry. There's an online members forum where it's possible to request a group to play with it find people who are willing to teach you the ropes of a game you fancy. It's not very active yet, but the base is all there and the staff are open to suggestions. I've been a few times and look forward to going again next week as it's open to anyone. Although it's in a church and set up by a disability support group it is separate and just a great place to play some games and meet people. Also helps keep the costs low as they don't need a dedicated building 7 days a week. I've found there's parking near the dentist that's free from 1730 and it's about a 4 mins walk, also not far from the train station and taxi rank. Finding the door can be a little tricky if you're looking for a large ground floor place. If you find three cooks on the corner and head towards the kingfisher it'll be a large red glass door on the right with a sign board out the front. It's been Ladbrokes and Halifax and just before the covered area on the right.
