I was advised by the owner of the Pharmacy that it is UK law once a product like this is purchased it cannot be returned or refunded, because there is no way of knowing how it has been stored. I advised it had been in my kitchen the last 5 days, the box has not been opened and the seal not broken. It is an off the shelf product, not prescription and should be returnable. He still refused the refund. I have since looked up if this is UK law and it is not. It is at the discrepancy of the pharmacist.
I would like to add that I paid JATS 14.50 for the eye drops, my wife purchased identical eye drops for 7.49. When I pointed this out to the owner he advised his prices from his supplier had gone up. I understand we are living in uncertain times, but a differential of 7.01 represents an uplift of 94%. With inflation running at 10% I don't think a supplier would be marking their products up to this extent.
I have been a long standing customer of JATS, but now have to question the level of customer service and integrity. A local chemist such as this needs to thrive on trust and how it treats its customers. I for one will need to consider where I take my business from now on. With plenty of choice and a NHS pharmacist at Finchampstead surgery, it won't be a difficult decision. If I had purchased the eye drops at Boots or Tescos they would have been refunded without question.
