Simon's advice and coaching was nothing short of transformative to my running. The technique work has allowed me to run for longer and stronger, and stay injury free, which in itself is well worth the investment. This combined with Simons training plan gave me the confidence to take on the Beyond the Ultimate 230km Ice Ultra in 2022 (the same race Simon won in 2020). Over a 2 year period, I went from running no more than a slow 10km to running 5 marathons back-to-back in freezing arctic conditions. Furthermore, I went on to lead the race at several points, winning day 3 and finishing 4th overall. As a 40 year old, amateur runner, I could never have done this without Simon. I owe him a lot.

Having been gifted a set of coaching sessions with Simon by my wife, I couldnt be happier with the results. Starting with a thorough assessment of fitness, balance and overall running technique, Simon created personalised training sessions with simple but highly effective exercises that have clearly improved my running form. Ive been running for many years and have always enjoyed going out on the trails without thinking too much about time or distance goals. So, at first, I wasnt sure I really needed someone to tell me how to run, but having a professional coach pointing out my inefficiencies and consciously paying more attention to how my body (arms, head, legs, feet, chest, etc.) moves during running has been eye-opening. In the last few months, Ive become a better, faster, more efficient runner but most importantly, it has made running even more fun! Simon is not only a wealth of knowledge, but also just a very nice guy to work with. His positive attitude, encouragement and enthusiasm for running are infectious, making any training session (even in freezing temperatures) very enjoyable. Overall, I would highly recommend Simon to anyone looking to improve their running technique and performance, no matter what level you are at in your running!

Before lockdown, all those years ago when life was normal, I was tricked into signing up for the Reading half marathon. I was a very occasional runner who would very occasionally slog around a 10k loop but would mostly run 5kms with the dog. Badly. Then along came Si at focused running promising me that he could change me into a half marathon smashing less rubbish runner. Well, I have to admit that's exactly what happened! Over the following months he trained me on technique, mindset, gave me workouts and stretching routines to compliment my new technique and low and behold I went from struggling around 5ks to effortlessly gliding around 10 miles plus and enjoying it. It was a revelation. I literally tell anyone who will listen that they should give him a call and get their running improved.

As an older runner that only started from scratch about 7 years ago, I wanted to be sure that my running style would not cause injury. The aim is to be able to continue in some capacity forever. I also wanted to be able to increase my pace. Simon was brilliant, always encouraging and quickly identified ways I could improve posture and running style. Amazed at the difference from the video but also with my new PBs . So glad I did this.

Focused Running has taken my running to a whole new level. I have: (i) been shown how to adapt my running style to make me more efficient: (ii) learnt fast feet so that I can dance on the trails; and (iii) understood my blood lactate levels so can I run for longer with less effort and avoid the dreaded wall in a race. Money well spent!!
