Barchester - West Oak Care Home

We have had connections to west oak since march 1993 when it opened for first time. My wife worked there as a nurse .The home supported all staff to maintain their education and knowledge thereby helping to develop , improve and deliver person centred care.The homes aim was always to encourage families and friends to visit and play an active part in their loved ones lives.

Mt dad 'Bob' had a six month stay at West oak and was in and out of hospital throughout that time - the staff were absolute angels and gave him the best level of care and love possible. They were very professional and caring and always updated us day or night on any developments. I would thoroughly recommend West Oak - it was an amazing place for my father to spend his last days and my Dad loved all of the staff - I would recommend to anyone - thanks team it meant a lot to the whole family - you were incredible.

Dorothy & I have lived here for over three years and we couldn't have been happier. They treat Dorothy who after her Stroke is unable to talk, eat or move only with the staff's help as they treat everybody else. It appears that their job description states they must make her smile or laugh which they do and is wonderful. Anything we want, they try extremely hard to provide & if that is not possible they explain why & the reasons are quite understandable. We got engaged fifty two years today and we are as happy now as we were then even if we are not quite so active. Thank you to the Manager, Geoff Honour and all the staff here at West Oak who make our quality of life so good. I don't even have to do the washing up since coming here!!!. Geoff Champion
