Cantley House Hotel

The room i stayed in was lovely and quiet, despite it being on the ground floor. The bed was very comfortable and the large shower room was modern. A couple of maintenance issues let the room down a bit. Some resealing and some tightening of screws would sort that out. Theres plenty of parking and there is a small bar. The food in the restaurant was outstanding, not a huge overwhelming range of dishes but there was a good variety and what was brought to us was something special. The service throughout our stay was great.

Went to baby shower. Very impressed with food and service. I don't live locally but have friends and family that do and I would definitely recommend. Food & drinks: Only came for day but food supplied for Baby Shower was fantastic and plentiful.

Oh good grief what a rough looking place this is. Dated, poor decorating and bathrooms need a serious improvement. Clearly in need of a massive refurbishment. The pictures on line do NOT reflect the reality. No aircon - single pane glass and poor overall. Food in the restaurant was pretty naff as well. Shortened our stay immediately. Dont use unless you have to. In response to the owners comments - the room was in full sun and very hot with the heating also on (despite the outside temp). The window sash cords were snapped on both sides of the windows so would not stay open. The grout in the bathroom was blown and dirt has accumulated in the gaps left. The shower is mouldy - and the tiles breaking away from the walls - Ive attached pictures to this review. Chances of catching something between your toes perhaps! The table where I hoped to work from was peeling and damage on the top. Two of the switches in the room were broken. There is no hair dryer in the room (for over 200 a night) The room safe was locked and not usable. Reception was unattended and we waited for 10 mins before someone arrived to help. I stayed in country house hotel last week with none of these problems that was the same price per night. Rather than argue with the guest perhaps address the concerns - and raised by other guests if the other Google reviews are accurate. And yes - I did address this with reception and was moved - so two stars for the help I received. But - we have decided its an expensive mistake and will check out and not even bother with one night - with bathrooms that are mouldy I dont trust the beds. Off to another hotel.
