Martin & Pole Antique Auction House

Interested in a painting and asked for images in frame and the back. Response was highly uninformative and no images were forthcoming. Large oil painting sold for 110. Can't think the best price was achieved for the vendor.

I purchased an antique barometer recently from martin & pole recently, described as circa 1790 When I received the item and investigated the maker, he was only born in 1817 , so clearly not 18th century and in fact nowhere near 18th century probably nearer 1837 ( when he was around 20 years old) only defence they had was too many items to do thorough checks upon and i can return the item..!!! Do not trust this auctions houses decriptions..!! do your own checks..This is not the first time that I have found them to misdeclare items.

I love this place , it a bit like the storage cupboard in hogwarts Harry Potter, Nigel is a good honest transparent man that wears his heart on his sleeve. Good old British sense of humour about the place, would love to award more stars for just the laughs I had every time I visited x
