We had a Salus RT500RF when we bought our first house and the stupid thing keeps reverting to set the central heating temperature to 35 degrees! Its impossible to set the temperature on the thing despite reading the manual and all the instructions online. Salus wont answer the phone to homeowners asking for customer support. Im currently in contact with Nottinghamshire Trading Standards over this because reading other reviews shows that this isnt user error, an isolated problem or a single faulty unit - but a very poor design and yet the continue to sell them. Im not technically illiterate. How this company ever thought that something as critical as a thermostat could have similar operating requirements as a 1980s VCR is just beyond comprehension.

** See update at bottom of review ** Had a Salus RT520TX controller fitted as part of a new installation three years ago. The controller started behaving strangely and then bricked completely (backlight on, all LCD segments illuminated) on 14th December this year. Googling the part number indicated these controllers are extremely problematic and generally die young, but I decided to give the support system a try. The only support available seems to be them continually resending the manuals. Support ticket was closed today (16th December) after I'd emailed them that I'd bought a Honeywell controller as a replacement. EDIT: To Salus's credit, they e-mailed me on 2nd January, and offered to replace the defective RT520TX unit.

Not impressed - had a problem with a thermostat - filled in their on line form for technical assistance but never had a reply.
