I'm an ex student who left after year 11 in 2014 for another local sixth form. However, having being taught by the current head teacher of Abbey College, as well as a number of the higher level staff, I was shocked when a year ago I sent in various emails asking for help for a foreign passport application only for there to be no response, even to this day. If this school wants to set a high moral bar for it's students, it is certainly failing in that regard. I currently live in the Netherlands where I have settled and am attending a highly regarded Dutch university. However after the Brexit vote, my British passport offered little hope to the future so I thought it necessary to apply for the Irish citizenship that I was entitled to. However the only person applicable to me to witness this citizenship application was a head teacher. So I thought Abbey College, having being taught for 2 years by the current head, would be more than happy to help one of their ex students who's worked hard to follow their dream and continue it without the anxiety of being told to leave their new country because of the bad decisions of the UK. I was wrong. After a few months with no reply I decided to contact my old Sixthfrom, St Ivo, who responded within the day saying they'd be more than happy to help. Today I became an Irish citizen, and can stay in my new home country, the Netherlands indefinitely. No thanks to this school that seems to try so hard but can never manage to achieve much. When I tell of this around my varois circles around Leiden and The Hague, many dispute the competence and compassion of Abbey College's staff. Ik kan u helaas niet bedanken voor uw hulp omdat het mij niet geholpen heeft. Jullie onbeholpen klootzakken. Tot ziens.

Honestly, this school tries it's best. I'll admit that. But it needs ALOT of work. In my personal opinion, this school NEEDS to work on the welfare of the students MENTALLY. Alot of children are getting bullied, and it doesn't stop. Plus, it doesn't help the bullied student's way of thinking towards the school, or learning in generally. Schools, in extension learning, will become a bad thing in the view of bullied students because of the pschyological stress of bullying. THIS NEEDS TO STOP IN SCHOOLS EVERYWHERE, I'm not saying it is just the Abbey.
