Stayed overnight in the hotel, and was sadly disappointed. Knew it was above a pub and therefore liable to be a little noisy, but was surprised at 11.30pm that the bar staff decided to turn the music up so loud that our floor literally vibrated! Clearly a speaker was just below our bed. Tried to call the night manager / staff using the three numbers given and ended up with voicemails on all. The music continued till after midnight, and when I spoke to the staff downstairs at the bar, I was told there had been a staff party and they were going to play one more song... Finally, had some relative quiet at half midnight. In the morning, I Asked to receive a call back from the manager to discuss, but sadly 5 days later I am still yet to hear anything. Disappointing considering the cost of the room

Just spent a long-weekend here in a superior double room on the top floor of this very charismatic building, and what a great stay it was. The room was very large and extremely comfortable with a spacious, modern bathroom. Our window overlooked the street but double-glazed windows ensured that any sounds from outside did not get through. The staff are super-friendly and very helpful. Location is great, opposite the train station and a stone's throw to the stores and coffee shops (loved Brass Monkey!). Highly recommended.
