We were so excited to go and see this, with the advertised Sci fi theme particularly appealing to us, especially my eldest child (12). Slightly disappointed to see some of the sculptures that, having looked back at the fb page, were last year's and the year before, and no artists at work either so whilst I appreciate the skill that goes into creating these pieces, we felt a bit short changed as it was a very cold marquee with about a dozen sculptures in, most of which weren't interesting to us and we couldn't see the processes that go into making them either. Also the venue is pushchair accessible at best, we struggled with 2 wheelchairs. I would suggest the owners get a self propelling chair and try going round in all the wet sand and the uneven ground outside the marquee to see just how difficult it is and how dirty they get! Flat does not equal fully accessible! Or maybe just keep the pathways cleaner at least. We were in and out in 10 minutes, not something you can make a long visit out of in my opinion, even with children in tow.

Sandworld might rhyme with blandworld, but it was ANYTHING but. The theme at the moment is science fiction, and there were a whole host of familiar characters on display (some quite scary... I'm talking about YOU alien Vs predator). There was some LIVE action too - one of the sculptors was there creating the Dr Who piece. My favourite sculpture however was unrelated to science fiction. There was a special piece on Ukraine, by one of the Ukrainian sculptors. It was stunning and very moving - with a lot of symbolism about the war. Adults or kids - make sure to take up the quiz challenge, it really adds to the challenge and makes you focus on the details of the sand and their subjects.

Wow. Just wow. Today I was blown away by the power of sand and the skill of the sculpturers. From star wars to the Ukraine war, the creations were truly amazing. Well worth a visit. Plus if you complete their quiz you get chocolate and sweets without paying for them with the money you have earned (they are free!) Highly recommend.
