lovely scenery, lovely view from the old railway viaduct that stretches over the River Irwell that runs through the historical town of Radcliffe, which was recorded in the Domesday book, no less. Little bit run down now, due to lack of business in the area, which was no fault of it"s own. Unfortinately has a lot to do with Bury Council, who haven't invested any financial support to our town. Quite a few years ago, the council in their infinite wisdom, decided to pedestranise the town centre road which, ran straight throuh our once thriving town, up until then. And then build a kind of ring road round it, which then stopped motorists travelling through, which they then travelled around it.. This ridiculous and absolutely insane, inconsiderate decision, killed our once thriving and bustling town, stome dead. I'm not a 100% sure why that crazy decision was made, but i'm quite sure it wasn't made with Radcliffe's interests at heart..Very much so the opposite, im my humble opinion.. But we are A very proud people and community, salt of the earth, hard working , warm and friendly town's folk. Our town never really recovered from Bury's selfish, selfish and misguided treatment of the whole situation, concerning Radcliffe. They've shut our beautiful Civic Hall, our Public baths, both our High school's, plus our indoor market then suffered and had to close it's doors, but that was accidental, due to a fire. We have a new Market now, very modern, but Radcliffe needs visitors, shoppers, Retailers to take a chance and pump some blood through it's nearly, not quite dry veins and breathe new life bsck into our proud people's town. Anyway sorry, i digress, come and have a chummy walk with your families, friends and loved one's in Outwood park, your all more than welcome.. The trail could maybe do with a cafe, bistro, for mild refreshment premise.. Maybe toilets in there too.. Please come and visit us and see the big potential that could arise and hopefully then be a springboard for us and then prosper.. Thank every one and best wishes Chris

A wild place that's a remedy for the soul. Where wild things watch from the woods or prance among the toadstools. Slightly unkept and forgotten little bit of a country park. While this might sound like a negative it is actually in Outwood's favour. Lots of dense forest-like areas and overgrown paths that lead off the main routes through the park. Lots of deer, fox and badger, along with frogs, newts and insects galore. Great place for a dog who likes to have a sniff or for kids to explore wildlife.
