Nice little shop not too far from London Fields. Good coffee, quite tasty desserts. Fair prices. Friendly owner. Has some nice seating on the sidewalk for when the weather allows it. We come here once a month or so. Certainly a place I would recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Was cycling past on a lazy Saturday afternoon and noticed what I initially thought was a quirky looking cafe but was promptly informed, by the rather fashionably dressed owner, that it was actually an art gallery which also moonlighted as a cafe. Intrigued, I enquired further regarding his menu/cake assortment. During the conversation the owner informed me that his wife who runs the cafe had been formally trained at the Cordon Bleu school and as a result made exceptional cakes and pastries. I ordered a souffle cheesecake and a latte. Upon tasting my first spoonful of the cheesecake I quickly realised that the owner, although on what seemed like the vanguard of the London Fields fashion scene, at best did not understand the essence of good baking or at worst had grossly misrepresented the standard of baking on offer. The cheesecake was terrible, stodgey, lacking in any discernible flavour, it seemed it was a couple of days past it's best and all for quite the eye watering price of 5.50. Coffee was average, I honestly could replicate the coffee experience by visiting the Costa in my local Tesco for 40% less cost. Embarrassingly, the owner hurriedly came out to take payment for the items before I had even began to dig my spoon into the cheesecake, I assumed at the time he did this because he thought I was going to run away without paying but on reflection it may have been because he thought I would actually decline to pay for such low grade products, I'm really not sure, either way it was surprising behaviour, I was embarrassed for him. In conclusion, if you are attempting to reach the heights of the London Fields hipster scene then I would whole heartedly recommend this establishment. If however, you just want a tasty cheesecake and quality coffee like me, then do yourself a favour and go to the local Lidl (about five minutes walk away), they have coffee and cake which far exceeds what is on offer here and for 1/10th of the price!
