    Daphne and I were college roommates in Los Angeles and she gave men my very first Pilates lesson in the 90's. After that one session, I swore my waist looked longer and thinner (it did!). Fast forward 20 years and my lower back was really hurting, especially in bed at night. I was doing all kinds of physical therapy, including Pilates, but was still having to resort to a handful of Tylenol to sleep pain-free. Daphne came to visit and after ONE session on the reformer with her, I was able to ditch the pain killers and get a great night's sleep!. After reviewing our session (which I recorded on my phone), I realized the thing that sets Daphne apart from all other Pilates teachers is her absolute insistence on pulling up through the "core". A lot of Pilates instructors talk about this, but Daphne goes above and beyond. Every time you walk, get out of or into a chair, work at your computer, literally anything, Daphne stresses that you be ever mindful of moving from your core and keeping your core lifted and strengthened. This technique is truly miraculous, especially when taught by Daphne, who WILL NOT STOP REMINDING YOU to use, use, use your core. The results are so worth it! Daphne even gave me exercises to do at home and these (along with my new hyper-vigilance) have given me a freedom from pain I had almost given up on. I'm getting used to my new way of moving through the world (core, core!) and my pain free nights have kept going.

    Mat Class with Nelly is a great way for starting pilates for beginners. She is very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful during session to see our limits and makes movements for our body or pain types. The place is good and clean. There is two restrooms/changing rooms which is good. Easy access to place and building. Located in the ground floor. Number 2. 3 intro classes for 55 are the good way to join and check your status.
