Second visit Im a few weeks, this time with friends, desperately hoping the food had improved but sadly this wasnt to be the case. My leek and spinach soup starter was bland and the sippets, were small, fat-laden croutons; so oily in fact that the bowl in which they arrived had a layer of grease at the bottom which had leaked from them. I imagined the chicken Kiev main might be an ironic modern take on a 70s classic but sadly the only modern thing about it was that the food was piled vertically rather than spread out over the plate and its eye-watering 22 price. The chicken was dry, sauce almost non-existent and its hard crust completely tasteless. Furthermore it sat on a bed of greasy coleslaw with an indifferent hash brown sandwiched in between and the only irony I could see was that it was far less interesting than its original incarnation and was more akin to Eastern European wartime food than adventurous international cuisine. Sadly this was reflected throughout and none of our party of five had anything particularly complimentary to say about the food. Fortunately the cocktails were pleasant and the staff lovely but otherwise only my dog was happy with the outcome. Ive no idea where the Jesse D-W is nowadays but sadly it feels like hes now moved a very long way from his kitchen here in Kensal Rise. Avoid until he returns and resolves the problems.
