Beautiful campsite Exactly what is described and is well looked after. There is an outdoor shower, one toilet for the site. The toilet was very clean and all information about the site is in the toilet. Grounds are lovely too will definitely be visiting again!

I don't usually leave reviews but when I was looking myself at this site before I stayed I wanted to be sure I knew what I was letting myself in for. I couldn't find everything I wanted to know on the website but when looking at other reviews on here it helped me to decide to stay here so felt I could do the same for others. If you're looking for a really simple site with no frills but all the nature then this is the place for you. There is one compost toilet with a lantern inside for lighting and plenty of loo roll. It was kept fairly clean but it is up to you to clean up after yourself and it will stay ok in there. There is a tap and sink with cold running drinking water. There was a newly installed solar shower that we did use once. It was very cold water. My husband enjoyed it but I couldnt fully submerge myself. We were ok with this as we were expecting to be filthy for 4 days! I believe an enclosure will be coming soon. There are chickens roaming on site round the veg patch and pond. They didnt bother us during our stay. I did sit by the pond and relax for a while. The chickens came to say hello. I also saw a frog and heard plenty of crickets. There is long grass in certain areas to mark the pitches and paths. Take care as my daughter did get a tick. The site is beautiful to wander round with plenty of colour from all the things Amanda and team have been planting. The site was child friendly with a trampoline and climbing frame. Thankfully there were lots of other families staying with children so everyone played together. My children learned a few new games on the trampoline too. Obviously I can't guarantee you would also get wonderful guests as we did! Theres plenty of space for physical games too such as football and cricket, some children were riding their bikes on the field, we even managed to fly a kite! We met all the family involved with this community project over the weekend as they are still making lots of changes to create a beautiful relaxing area and all were lovely pleasant people to chat to. I wish them all the best with their plans for this site Each pitch is huge, we had a 5m bell tent with porch on ours with room to spare (pitch 7) but we saw pitch 2 with 4 one to two man tents on and another with 3 bigger tents on. Another thing that drew us to this site was the ability to have fires. Unfortunately we were unable to do this during our stay due to the site being very dry from the recent hot weather. Amanda was very prompt in offering us the refund for the wood and fairy dust we purchased online prior to the "fire ban". We were able to cook food using our gas stoves instead. We stayed for 3 nights with 2 young children and didn't leave the site. The views around are really nice. We could hear bells and local farm machinery but this didn't bother us. There is no electricity on site, you can park next to your pitch to unpack then take your vehicle back to the carpark, there is a compost heap for raw food and recycling bins but you do need to take your own rubbish away with you. In short, we really enjoyed ourselves and would definitely return for an escape from the mundane fast pace life we find ourselves in. Thank you Splatt Farm x
