Our waiter Oliver was very helpful and cheerful and went out of his way to show me the gluten free options on the menu. However my hake meal with a bean ragu was tiny, making the price of it very over the top!!! Fortunately I had ordered triple cooked chips too!!! The surroundings & the pub itself are beautiful.

I HAVE visited this pub loads of times over the last 40 years and it has also been magical Set right on Pyrford lock it is a wonderful place to sit and watch the barges go through. The food is excellent and the staff are very well trained and welcoming The pub itself is clean and beautiful. There is plenty of parking opposite. The food is quite pricey.

Don't expect good or timely service. The food is also not up to scratch, and portions are now smaller for more money. Waited 15 mins to get someone's attention to order...1hr for the food and then when one main was missing there was no apology just a constant claim it was coming in 2 mins....it took 15mins, still with no apology. One main was so small that it looked like a small starter (aubergine salad). Good for a drink. Don't come for the service or food. Or even an apology for it. I won't bother again. It was a bank holiday but it's simply not enjoyable after this experience. Our booking was at 12.15 when it was not busy, we ordered at 12.45.
