Had multiple work done on two cars and all work done has resulted in further required work costing us hundreds of pounds to fix. Oil and filter change done and oil cap not fitted! EGR valve replaced and then had a year of ongoing EGR problems resulting in a loose connection pin being found (maybe the pin was damaged by the technician refitting it and/or maybe didn't need a new EGR valve anyway?). Had DPF fluid topped up and ever since it has been leaking (it never leaked previously). The EGR and DPF issues have caused problems with the DPF needing an expensive chemical clean. Had a new clutch and mass flywheel fitted, but got the car back with steering wheel 30+ degrees out of centre (the eliptical steering rack bolts were not marked before removal and were assembled incorrectly). It took management intervention to get this one fixed! Then the clutch fluid was leaking from a pipe removed to carry out the clutch replacement (I was told the seals on the pipe where push fit and easily damaged, but I was made to pay for a new pipe plus labour even though the technician probably caused the leak). After fitting the clutch pipe my car had brake fluid on the bonnet and drivers door post! Also the clutch reservoir and surround were soaked in fluid! My car would not start, the RAC technician got it started, but noticed that the cable loom above the gearbox (disconnected/moved during the clutch replacement) had not been secured possibly resulting in a broken wire between the ecu and the start relay, the unsupported weight adding undue stress to the wires in the loom and possible chaffing damage (A&S charged me a hefty amount for a wire running between the ecu and relay and still haven't properly mounted and secured the cable loom). Had a near side front ABS sensor replaced, this fault arose shortly after all brake discs and pads had been replaced! When I removed the wheel I could see that the wheel arch covers were missing push fit fasteners and the new sensor wire was poorly rooted and rubbing on the covers, perhaps this caused the failure of the sensor in the first place? Now I'm being charged 1.5 hours to diagnose a faulty compressor on the cars air con, when I know its a simple process to pressure test the system for leaks, replen the R134A (refrigerant) and PAG (oil) and with the test equipment fitted & run the engine with the blowers on full to ensure cold air is coming out. This check and work takes minutes! If the system is holding pressure, but when operated gains no increase in pressure then the compressor may be at fault. I'm a City and Guilds Mobile Air Conditioning instructor/assessor and internal verifier! Is quite a list of mistakes we've had to endure and maybe, just maybe these people that work here will feel just a little bit ashamed at the poor service they have provided. I think it's time we found somewhere else to service our vehicles.
