Firstly, a full and proper site survey wasn't done. A fitter turning up to site for 1 minute saying he cannot measure anything (when he could) isn't a site survey. Our old and existing facia boards should have been checked properly to establish if the frame is suitable to attach a new facia to it, if that meant knocking into it there and then so be it, it was being removed anyway so it didn't matter - the full job should be established from moment 1 before costs are finalised which i expected from a professional signage contractor on jobs such as this. This didn't happen. Then, lots of unnecessary time wasting in-between by the person managing the job. I wont mention names on this. Dims, specs and designs were sent over by fit out contractor to everything was pretty clear on this job for the sign makers to do their part. There was a reception sign going up - a faux neon. It was super important to us that this 'floated' on the slat wood wall. We didn't want a standard cheap looking neon. The project manager failed to communicate with the fit out company or send any instructions on how he needed the wall and complained that the slat wall had been finished and that the existing spec of faux neon wouldn't work now. He then charged me for an awful black box that the faux neon would sit on the hide the transformers etc. I was also told this black tray would be heart shaped to follow the faux neon shape. I was shocked to see it when it was on site but having a press day just 48 hours away, I had no choice but to let them put this on the wall. We dislike it hugely and it cost us almost 1k for something I could have bought off the shelf. It also has vinyl coming off it, a scrape and it doesn't even work/light up! It did on the day of install and when I questioned the PM, that was his reply 'well it worked on the first day' oh great, well it doesn't now so obviously something is wrong! The outdoor facia sign we are happy with. Internal frosting however is a mess and needs fixing in places and again, project manager made this a painful experience sending sizes and dims for every single square inside the crittal squares when we all know that fitters turn up to site with a roll of frosting and cut to size when there. Another job made painful and tons of time wasting on both sides. Throughout this job the PM persistently made this job seem overcomplicated. He then had the absolute cheek to try and charge me over 1000 more for fitting for this job due to his poor communication and organisation. Lads turning up unplanned to site that cannot access isn't our fault! We organised Thursday yet they turn up Weds without notifying anyone then complain when they dont have access. Nor is fitters leaving at 3pm leaving a job unfinished. I accepted the fact the original survey wasn't done properly and that I needed to pay for some very simple framing. Essentially a few bits of timber and chipboard plus a few hours labour for a joiner however I wont accept the rest added costs. Added costs of over 1700 is ridiculous. I am not paying for the PM's errors or lack of decent survey. Our last day of fit out and set up which should have been exciting for us was stressful due to the signage issues and stress caused by the PM plus his rude communications. He stresed me out that much I had to block him. Our entire fit out went smoothly, the signage was the painful part and that should be the simple part! I have emailed one of the owners and he has failed to reply. I want the signage rectified and what I paid for originally. If rectified correctly, I may delete this review. 2 stars given rather than 1 due to the facia being what we ordered.
