Cumberland Building Society

We had a mortgage application going throught the Cumberland, at first we thought we found a genuinely nice branch that cared about us and were willing to go to ends of the earth in order for us to secure our dream property. After a couple of weeks of waiting and trying to get through to the person dealing with our application we then had our hopes shattered by being offered over 20k less than what we were initially offered by them, we have not only wasted our time but we have now lost our property, do not use this branch or indeed this building society!

Remained with The Cumberland who I joined 14 years ago, while living in Cumbria .Left Cumbria for the East Midlands 10 yeats ago but no way am I leaving this Building Societu. Excellent customer service

I rarely post reviews but Im so impressed with the helpfulness & can do attitude of the staff - particularly in the Workington branch - that I want to commend them. In comparison to other banks I deal with, they are head & shoulders above, in terms of their ability to respond, to do what you request & in offering what I consider to be old fashioned service. They are incredibly patient with my very elderly mother, and in dealing with me as her attorney.

The cumberland building society is a hidden gem. The customer service is absolutely outstanding. Very supportive and no problem is too big for them. Always available to help when needed. I simply can't recommend them enough.

The staff must have set a record for the amount of lies they told me just to save their own skin. Money which had been transferred on a Friday was still yet to be received the following Tuesday. When I asked about this, I was informed that it was due to the fact that we requested the transfer after 2pm.this was the first lie as it was clearly stated the money had been transferred well before 2pm. When I went in to check if the money had been fully sent I was assured that it would be with the intended account by 12pm, on the Tuesday. However, this was not the case as the account the funds were being transferred to did not receive it on this day. To add insult to injury, the gentleman behind the counter gave me his card and told me to call if the recipient had not received the funds. When I called the number on the card, the recorded message informed me this branch was not taking calls. Instead, I was directed to a call center and everything I had had be advised in branch was contradicted by the call center agents. All around incompetent, untrustworthy employees.
