Chose to live here for my first year last minute and it has been amazing. The bedrooms and kitchens have everything needed and the bedding is really comfortable. The building itself is very secure and the staff are lovely, always saying hello and happy to have a small chat. The location is also great being a maximum of 10 minutes walk away from the furthest buildings on campus and only a 15 minute walk into the city. Would 100% recommend for students new and old.

2020 to 2021 I've lived in the building (Foundry Court) for 1 year and it was the worst decision ive ever made in my life. Ill talk about the good points first before i get too negative, Mary the cleaner and Dee in security were lovely and the best people you can meet, the rooms are decent own bathroom and spacious room cant complain about that. That is it. Everything else was appalling, from doing nothing if a complaint is filed, to washing machines (that we had to pay for) not working, to no events being carried out (after covid obviously), to not protecting students data, to the court yard being full of bins and cars and rats, there was also never any staff on site. All in all being in the accommodation ruined my time at university completely. Want more details see below: The building is awful, the laundry is too small and most of the machines break down most of the time, so we sometimes only had 4 machines working. The common room (when open because of covid) was empty and not used as much as it should have been for events and such. The court yard, which is just the smallest car park for staff and where the bins are dumped. Speaking of the staff, where are they? At the start there was staff nearly everywhere as they hired some students to be "wardens" and they had alot of responsibility so they were sometimes just as good as the staff, however that did not even last 1 week after i moved in, the temporary manager reduced all there responsibilities so they did nothing but fire alarms which they still to this day cant even do properly cus she got rid of all the actual good wardens and hired people who personally caused me problems (which i will get to later). The main staff are only here 9 to 5, Monday to Friday, and then after 5, there is no one. No security no nothing, security is only here on weekends after a certain time. If you have a problem with another student or even a flatmate, when the temporary manager was there you'd go to her and nothing would happen, for example, i had some false claims made against me from another flat, which was proved false in the end by the temp manager, what was her salutation? For ME to block them on all social media, and ignrore them. That is it, she did nothing to punish the flat. Then after the real manager came back, another thing happend, one of my close flatmates made a serious complaint against one of our other flatmates at the time, as he was ignoring covid rules completely, starting trouble, carrying knives, threatening people the whole thing, and what was the salutation this time? We move to another flat. We were punished for making a complaint, apparently that was the only salutation she could come up with. So me and my flatmate moved, but because of that situation he was barely at foundry court after that (i dont blame him). Then some time passed and that flat that, i was ordered to ignore, found out where i moved to and told my new flatmates and some staff, some new lies about me, the situation was handled quite well this time, however, only after i said i was going to get the police involved. My point of that the last story was they are obviously breaking data protection because only my new flatmates and the manager knew where i had moved to everyone else who asked i lied to and said i was in a completely different building but somehow this person found out my new flat, my flatmates, and my room letter, remember i had them all blocked on everything. And i lived with the old head warden, and am very aware how much data was leaked, i definitely think they need retraining or somthing more. In summary, i will not be staying there again and anyone who asks if its good ill tell them exactly how bad it is, things that happened here completely ruined university for me.
