Had great chat with the girl who was behind the counter while I shopped for my date night. We had good laugh and giggles. Don't believe the reviews they have written about staff. They are just a friendly bunch of happy people... I got myself something nice to wear and had a good laugh too. Shame this place is closing down. I hope they can do better. Lucks...

I'm overweight and middle aged, like most of the people that I saw shopping in Chorley today. However, this fact seemed to cause much hilarity in Mamps. The manager and staff of Mamps found it hilarious that I was looking at small sized clothes (obviously not for me) I could hear the comments, remarks and laughter - it was completely degrading and humiliating! But then worse was to come, the manager approached me (I had a size 10 garment in my hand at this time) he said 'you can get your money back if it doesn't fit you' he made eye contact with a staff member and smiled, he then asked if I was looking for myself - he again looked over at his staff, who was now laughing again, as if it were a dare - I said 'clearly not' at which point he made a faux attempt at keeping his face straight, again he made eye contact with the staff member, who burst into fits of giggles, then he walked away without another word. I really wish that I'd confronted them but I was dumbfounded, I've never experienced anything like it before, it was so blatant. I rarely go into Chorley, but have always found the people to be warm and friendly, Mamps is NOT a good example of that town. The behaviour of the manager and staff members was completely appalling, like playground bullies - ignorant, obnoxious, disgusting and vile - completely unforgivable! So BEWARE, if you're overweight, middle aged, underweight, extremely tall or short, have a pimple, a grey hair, or maybe you wear glasses or your eyes are too close together - Prepare to be ridiculed, not only behind your back, but also to your face, and in public!
